1. Team Quest

While training in a Portland parking lot in 2000, Matt “The Law” Lindland and Randy “The Natural” Couture was inspired to form Team Quest Fight Club.

This would go on to become a pioneering gym for MMA. At a time when martials arts were still very segregated, Lindland and Couture wanted to create a place where people could train and exchange ideas about the most effective techniques for MMA.

As one of the first ever pure MMA gyms, Team Quest would go on to produce some of the most prolific and well-respected fighters the sport has ever seen such as; Chael Sonnen, Dan “Hendo” Henderson and Yushin “Thunder” Okami.

Though Randy Couture later left to form his own gym Xtreme Couture, Team Quest continues to this day under Lindland and carries with it two decades of pure MMA training.

Boxing, Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Submission Wrestling and MMA classes are all available for you to try, no matter your age or experience level. As MMA is at the core of Team Quest, you should expect to learn effective and applicable techniques from each martial art and how they can be used in an MMA fight.

The facility is huge, with over 10,000 sqft of mat space, a weight room and heavy bag area. There is plenty of space for you to work and a waiting area for parents or those who just want to hang out.

As pioneers of best MMA training practices and over two decades of experience, Team Quest is a phenomenal gym that has something for any MMA enthusiast whether they are looking to go pro or just to get ripped.

3. Straight Blast Gym

Straight Blast Gym, also known as SBG, is a large organization that’s focused on smaller and more intimate gyms. SBG doesn’t want you to get lost in the crowd of a huge facility filled to the brim with students.
