Israel Adesanya Arrested at New York Airport After Losing at UFC 281
UFC middleweight fighter Israel Adesanya has had a tough week so far. First, he lost his middleweight title to Alex Pereira in a TKO defeat during the main event of UFC 281. Second, he got arrested at the New York airport for possessing Brass Knuckles.
Israel was detained by Airport security for carrying brass knuckles, a banned item that came under criminal possession. Adesanya's spokesman gave a briefing to the media where he said,
"Israel was handed a gift by a fan, which he put in his luggage. When flagged at the airport, Israel quickly disposed of the item, and co-operated with authorities. He has complied accordingly, with that the matter was dismissed and he is on his way home."
Israel Adesanya won the UFC Middleweight title in 2019 when he defeated Robert Whittaker. He successfully defended this title on five occasions before coming to Madison Square Garden to face Alex Pereira. Pereira had the upper hand on Adesanya during their kickboxing careers, and he got his number again in an MMA fight.
Israel Adesanya is not disappointed by his defeat. He said he would enjoy every moment because he is now free from the added pressure of the UFC middleweight title. He said,
"It was my third fight in 10 months, as a champion, putting it on the line every single time. I'm going to really enjoy myself and just chill."
"I'll travel maybe, and help my teammates as well. Help them get ready for their respective fights, but I deserve this. I earned this. I get to enjoy Christmas and New Year's and a nice Kiwi summer for the first time in years, without any looming fight on the horizon." He further added.
Israel Adesanya is eying a rematch for the middleweight title. He rightly deserved a rematch because he created a substantial legacy as a middleweight champion. Only time will tell when he will get his chance at the title again. Please keep visiting our website for more details.
