Top 3 MMA Gyms in Denver Colorado

If you are looking for the best MMA gyms in Colorado, then look no further. We have compiled a list of the top 3 MMA gyms in Denver Colorado to help you decide which gym is best for you and your needs.

Whether you're looking to start with an MMA gym for beginners, to pursue a career in fighting of simply looking to use MMA to get ripped, then the list below should give you all the information you need to make an informed decision.

1. Ludwig Martial Arts/BANG Muay Thai

Ludwig Martial Arts is owned and run by world famous coach Duane “Bang” Ludwig.

Probably best known to casual fight fans for coaching former UFC Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw and possibly even the drama that surrounded them both leaving Team Alpha Male together. But in the world of Martial Arts, Duane is likely best known for forming his Bang Muay Thai striking system.

This system is a combination of Dutch-style kickboxing and traditional kickboxing. It is primarily inspired by famous multiple time Heavyweight Champion Bas Rutten’s striking style that led him to dominate in Pride and open many people's eyes to the devastating effectiveness of Dutch kickboxing.

Even with the BANG Muay Thai system at its core, Ludwig Martial Arts is still primarily an MMA gym. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes are available for both Gi and No Gi.

Kids' classes are also available through their Lil Ninjas program. Its focus is on teaching a broad set of MMA skills, both striking and grappling, with their predominate goal of teaching respect and self-confidence.

If you access their website, linked below, you can book a free trail class in any of the programs I’ve mentioned. Don’t let the professional level of the coaches intimate you and instead feel confident that you will be trained by the best and mentored at your own pace, geared towards your own goals.

Easton BJJ is an incredible MMA gym that has been open for over 15 years.

Owned by Head Coaches Amal Easton and Eliot Marshall and led by BJJ Brown Belt Carlos Espinosa, Easton BJJ has a long legacy of elite level training, with elite facilities to match.

The Denver gym is over 10,000sqft with a full-sized MMA cage, 5,000sqft of mats and a dedicated striking area. It really has everything the aspiring martial artists would need, including high-level staff that will support you along your journey, whether it be for self-defense, health and fitness or competition.

Easton BJJ extends far beyond Denver Colorado. One of the big benefits of Joining Easton BJJ is that once you are a member you can have access to any of their associated gyms at any time for no extra cost. For people who keep on the move, this will have incredible value.

A testament to their quality work is some of the fighters they have in their stable like Bojan Velickovic and Drew Dober, who is currently climbing the UFC Lightweight rankings, likely the toughest division in the organization.

3. High Altitude Martial Arts

High Altitude MMA is run by founder and former UFC contender Nate “The Great” Marquardt.

It has the most UFC fighters of any Colorado gym, which by itself should tell you about the quality of the facilities and instruction on offer here.

They cover all aspects of MMA including BJJ, striking arts and MMA specific classes. What stands out amongst other MMA gyms is their approach to their programs. For example, they hold a School of Striking instructional which covers a wide range of effective striking arts. As opposed to segmenting classes into Muay Thai and Boxing, they use the School of Striking Program to bring together all the most effective techniques for use in MMA. They even utilize their own grading system to allow people the opportunity to build a great foundation to build upon as they move up the ranks.

These expertly crafted programs are led by elite level martial artists ensuring you will get the best instruction possible. The coaching staff itself is extremely robust, which ensures they have enough staff to give their fighters the attention they need. A notable standout coach would be Cory “The Sandman” Sandhagen, a current top UFC Bantamweight who has one of the most complete and creative striking styles across the entire UFC roster. A glowing endorsement of their School of Striking program if ever I heard one.

Although the professional level of coaching staff and members might be intimidating to some, newcomers should not let that put them off. If you want an MMA gym for beginners, look no further; All ages and skill levels are welcome, and all programs start at the basics and work their way up, meaning instruction will be catered to your personal level.

Youth classes are also available for both grappling and striking, with the same level of care and expertise that you would expect from the adult classes.

With such incredible credentials and a free trial on offer, there is no reason for you not to try High Altitude if you are in the area.
